The Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot nameplates are a decade old this year, and FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) has decided to cease production of the models. Instead of releasing revamped or re-imagined 2017 editions, Jeep will debut a brand new model which is currently being dubbed the Compatriot. Prototypes of the new model have been spied wearing black and white camouflage paint in Michigan where FCA owns a manufacturing plant in suburban Detroit.
Glimpses of the interior reveal a similar configuration to current Cherokee models, with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display for the popular Uconnect 8.4 NAV infotainment system. The new Compatriot will use an elongated version of the platform used in the 2016 Jeep Renegade, and rumors suggest that the new Jeep will come equipped with FCA's recently developed Hurricane 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The LA Auto Show is scheduled for November 18-27 at the LA Convention Center, where the full details and name of the new Jeep will be released.
